Aug 8: Speedo

Back to the Beetle. I'm pretty sure that the fuel problem is the fuel pump. Friendly local VW parts shop didn't have one in stock so I've had a bit of time to sort out some other problems... the speedo. It used to stick at 20mph then would suddenly free up at 60mph. On the way back down it would stick at 20 again. Even when parked it read 20. Not anymore. It's fixed. So I took a photo. 71620 miles? In 41 years? That's less than 2000 miles a year...

Looking at this picture I can almost smell my old ones and the engine sound comes right to my mind :-)

Thanks for the memories of driving my dad's '69 beetle. Nice shot.

I delight in the joy you are having with that car. I'm sure soon we'll have shots with the speedo up to 60 for real.
Sharp image.
