Jun 23: Rain gods

What is photo-a-day? It's not a difficult concept. Every day I take at least one photograph. I choose one that I like, or that says something about the day. As soon as I get time, I post it on PBase in my photo-a-day gallery... I do this every day. Why? Because it challenges me creatively. Because over time it becomes a fascinating record of my life. And because most of the time I enjoy it. Others see their P-a-D projects differently. They choose not to take a photograph every day. They do it most days, or when they feel like it, or when they have time. Well, I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, that is missing the point. To actually take a photograph every day is the whole point of this project. That's what makes it a challenge, that's what keeps it interesting, that's what makes it a photo-a-day.

So, rant over, on to today's photograph. It's the first week on Wimbledon, and, as is traditional, summer is put on hold while we rain gods (there are lot's of us living in the UK) try our hardest to suspend play. Today, we win! Yay!

Great play with light.

I'm totally with you on this David - keep the rant going, the PAD metagallery is evolving to something of an abuse of this excellent concept.
As for the pic - a very nice rendition of your situation, would not have helped me as it started to snow on the top of the mountains surrounding me last night - a bit of a shock this morning to see the white cap at this time of year :-(

Thank you David. I did a rant and actually emailed Slug myself to get this resolved...this other pader..http://www.pbase.com/jypsee/profile, really made an insulting response in the forum and I'm rather peeved about the issue. SHE misses the point totally. Anyway...thanks for this.

I understand your rant. I wish I was young enough to do a PaD. But at my age days spent in a hospital on death watches or at funerals do not lend themselves to carrying a camera around. I do have interval I use quite often. I suppose I could plug it into the AC and set it for once a day when I am gone. I do honor those who can take a photo every day. Alas, I have to take photos when I am where cameras are permitted and I have access to a computer to post.

We haven't had that particular rant for a few weeks now. Mind you, I totally agree with you. I hope to complete my first year in August without a gap, or one taken by someone else.

This is an excellent way to convey the low barometer and the rainy conditions. Very sharp.

I agree w/ your definition of the PaD (for the most part) ...

Nice but depressing photo, david, it rains here like hell and the stormwinds blow up to 50 mph in Belgium. this year's summer is borrrrrring.
