After such a wet cloudy summer, the night skies in September are stunningly clear. I pointed my little 'scope at Jupiter and saw, for the first time the shaded bands on the planet surface. Neptune and Uranus were in the same bit of sky, but they're so dim and so not very interesting to look at without a lot more magnification. I got Neptune a tiny spec, but Uranus was elusive...
