June 16 2005 You can't see me......right???

The back yard.
My ever vigilant guard dachshund temporarily chased mom off.
The answer...hunker down and hide.

Good thing for this one that the dog's benign and just wants to play.
In the wild, with coyotes, this one would be part of the circle of life by now.

The thing that does amaze me about these things is that they can run like the wind when they are just minutes old.
The survival advantage is obvious.

Makes me wonder though....humans barely walk after many months of life.
That seems, to me, a huge survival disadvantage.

If it were otherwise...in my minds eye I can see two hour old newborns escaping the hospital nursery,
darting down the hall evading the L&D nurses who are, of course, trained in neonatal persuit and recapture.

Soon thereafter, off to look for mom.

that's an awesome shot! I have nearly stepped on baby fawns chasing crooks in the brush, they lay so still when mom is away.

Such a beautiful little animal. You did a wonderful job of capturing him.

What a little beauty. Both photos are wonderful. Thank goodness, human babies don't do this.

Beautiful photo. Poor thing probably did think it was out of sight. Well, good thing this happened with you and not with someone or something that would do it harm.
