I went to Anchorage Street School with Shane. He was my 2nd grade boyfriend. We would hold hands. He was such a sweet kid. I remember him wearing jeans and cowboy boots and always smiling.

For Carl re: a private message containing an email address that bounced back to me:
I'm just an old guy who took these pictures and I haven't lived in Venice since 1987. However, since you marked your message "private" I'm the only person who will see it and I didn't really know Shane at all.

You might try reposting your message, not marked Private and with your correct email address in the message because, as it says at the top of the site: "If you want other guests to see your email address you must place it in the body of your message.
(Only I can see the addresses typed in the box that pbase provides)"

However, these days there aren't a lot of visitors to the site..... but you never know.

Shane was a good friend and saved my ass on a number of occasions in the early eighties ... what a loss.

I knew Shane pretty well. My brother and I used to live down the street from him.
He was a good Surfer, Skater and all around fun person.
We used to terrorize other kids at the Jetty and the Pier.
I did not know he was no longer among the living.
What a shock.

When Shane & I were little guys (eight?) we used to play rough, ride bikes, climb trees, etc. I think he was my first crush (I was a tomboy and eight). When we got older Shane lost some of his shine, things sometimes come too easy to the beautiful; but deep down there was still that cool boy that I used to play with. He became lost and was eaten by the ugliness of the world. He never got to outgrow the label as bad boy which is a shame--there was potential for wonder there. A lot of us were screwed up when we were younger (mean, slutty, whatever) but we've been blessed with the time to outlive the labels and show that they aren't true. Poor Shane.

I don't want these pages to become a sort of morbid gossip sheet, but if someone could write a few respectful words about Shane, I'd be happy to transfer them to the top of the page and then hide these comments, His dates would also be appreciated, if you have them... Thanks...
