These are the all the rest of what I have from the Marina del Rey Skatepark. I wasn't sure from the proof sheets exactly which dates these represent but they are all from January 1979. As with the earlier Marina Gallery on this site I scanned them all, cleaned them up, and posted most of those here. I could have edited the number down but I figured you could do that for yourselves. On the less exciting skatepix I've tried to keep cropping to a minimum so that you can see the park itself and some of the non-celebrity participants and observers too.

Just did a google search and found these great photos. I was looking for a guy named Shreddie (don't know his last name) who I knew in 1980. He took me to the Marina skate park....does anyone know his where abouts...very random, I know. Thanks! Genitrix@earthlink.net

I don't think I choose to drop in to this skate debate. However, I've been a week mulling over the "panzy ass" hit (below). Not like I haven't run into this before (well....maybe only a million times), but I thought I might mention that an unashamed "panzy ass" took all these pix and created this site so that all you macho dudes could re-realize what skateboarding places like this were like.....

When you have a real skatepark only then does it clearly kick butt over surfing good waves. But things somehow get all confused through corporate dealings and lawsuits such as the closing of this park. Only now is there a good chance for people to re-realize that skateboarding places this like is what it takes. Not your panzy ass trick skating aka freestyle but rather huge curves like ocean waves.

The sickest part is that this park only lasted about 2 years! Then it was buried for like 10 years and then became a weight lifting place for about 5 years and is now the new freeway on-ramp completed this year.

That is really rad! Thanks for those memories...I think thats when I quit skating. Me and Dexter used to come by in the afternoon after surfing and hang. Those were the daze!
