*****I didn't know Jay very well. In fact, I always gave him a bit room since I thought that perhaps he didn't think very highly of me and Littlejohn. In March of 2014 he left a few nice comments on the site and I emailed him. At the end of my message I wondered if he actually remembered who we were? His reply was downright gracious, and that isn't a word that I would ever have thought to associate with Jay. He did remember the good times and clearly wanted to put any past ugliness behind him.
.....And that's fine with me. As far as I'm concerned it's all water under the bridge. In fact, if most of you haven't a clue as to what I'm taklng about here that's all for the good.

*****I hadn't realized that he had married Tracy (who I didn't know) and that had sort of made him Dillon's step dad. He wrote me how much he and Tracy loved him, and that warmed my heart. You can't have too much love in the world

*****There are some other shots of him on the site, but I quickly pulled together these four for this gallery (the comments are obvously from when they had been previously posted in other galleries). I have always been particularly proud of the portrait of him holding his helmet. I have never been sure if he was comfortable posing for it but perhaps precisely because I didn't really inhabit the macho world of the skaters he just let the photo happen. No wide angle lens, no signature snarl, just Jay.

***** It's comforting to me that he spent his last days surfing up a storm, reportedly with Big Al and Solo. He and Dennis were both great surfers and I think I enjoyed watching them more in the water than on wheels.
