That's Alan Rice on the left of me, and I'm standing in my first wetsuit-(A dive suit!)that I bought off some guy from the northside of Santa Monica who was selling it in the local newspaper "The Evening Outlook". It was a "beaver-tail" two-piece suit that consisted of legs and a long sleeve jacket. I paid $22.00 for it and after a short while the zipper broke and I had to sew up the zipper with nylon thread everytime to be able to go surf the Breakwater. After surfing, I would cut the string to get outta my suit and then ride my bike home...And do it again for the next session...
Sometimes I remeber my humble beginnings and REALLY appreciate all the free wetsuits I recieved from becoming a hot local surfer who became a WSA West Coast champion, US Team member, Top 16 US Pro and having my surfshop in SM...
As my sister wrote me earlier, I look like a knight in f**king shiny armour!!!
