Hey Becky, I can't believe thus page is here. I think of you and Steve often. I hung out with Steve all the time. I was always at the apartment. I'm floored at the responses here from everyone. I did not sign up for this site, so I had no clue that all of you signed in and posted something. AMAZING to see you all. I just wrote the person who started this page in an attempt to request that I post some pictures of us all in Venice, way back when. David Hickman here... Now last name is Lang [legally changed back in 1987]. I was the younger kid who skated freestyle with you all, worked at Cheapskates then Road Skates, etc. Damn I miss you guys. You all had such a huge influence on me as a person and I have nothing but fond memories of you. I have an AMAZING PICTURE of "Team Road Skates" that was the cover of the March 1980 Issue of Smithsonian Magazine, in it are; Me, Beth, Colin, The 'Eds', jeanie, The Marcellino sisters and Mike Bright.. I also have a great pic of Becky on the half pipe in the Road Skates parking lot... TONS of home 16mm movies as well; Romi, Benji, Beth, etc... and some pics of Beth and I on our way to the auditions for Xanadu at the roller rink in Reseda. I miss her something crazy. I know that they recently interviewed Fred Blood, Fred Dagher and Duke Rennie... they're interviewing me soon and will be using some of my old 16mm footage for the film. I'll be dropping names for their records and the history. You guys were there and I want your names to be shared, if that's ok. I still remember Ticia and i skating over the bridges in the canals during the filming of Roller Boogie... and all of the stunt work she did... Amazing. Mike Bright here. Becky, Steve hi and glad to hear from you. I left venice without a trace and joined the U.S. Navy for over 20 years and fought in the 91 gulf war and the 03 Iraq war. I retired keeping my current wife of 27 years and 3 lovly daughters and 1 granddaughter. Missing the pavilion days. There are alot of imposters saying they were the first to quad skate but we know who was there in the winter on those cold days and hungry afternoons. Miss eating with everyone at the cafe. Wheres Benji?

Jerry Bregman here. Wow! What a treat to come across this site! I echo Trish wishing Beth were still around to reminise. . . . Remember her memorial skate along the Boardwalk with Bonnie and Bob formerly of Road Skates? Great days in the bowls with all of you. Hey David, thanks for the shout out! And Kurt and Benji and Trish -- OMG! I married my law school sweet heart almost 22 years ago and we're living UPW New York across from Central Park. I'm mostly into speed skating these days along with the tri sports. By day (and many nights) I'm a partner at Curtis Mallet-Prevost (www.curtis.com), a 180 year old law firm in midtown and focus my practice on financial restructuring. I just had a flash back of skating with Will Wasserstrom at the Runway, our first time dropping in the bowl. And the 360 spinners over the canyon to the key hole at MDR. And Fred Blood, Denise and their clothes, and the Rollerboogie filming. And the inverted half-capsule. Amazing we survived and thrived! A skate reunion in Venice is probably warranted. Bex, If you are the Becky Howe, that skated a bowl in Cali with Duke Rennie on quads, then I have some info for you. We often post on gravity.com/rollerskate and on adinfinitum.de/php/index.php?theme=Vert-Skating.

A thread just came up about an old film on Rollerskating Safety in which you skate the bowl with Duke. That is on the Gravity website. We have a decent online community of vert quad skaters, and your presence would be welcome. Also, if anyone else here skates vert on quad roller skates, come on by!!

Hey guys, Ticia here. We must all be feeling Nostalgic these days. I think the first big competition was at the Runway but I'll let that slide. Elizabeth Gardner gave me the link. Nice to see I am not the only one with fond memories. I remember the days of working at VPR (Venice Precision Rollerworks) and Cheapskates. I remember Santa Monica College and Steve Howe's House for lunch. I am married (2nd) and have three kids; 21, 15 and 13, we live in Wareham Massachusetts; the Gateway to Cape Cod.. I have been working for the Department of Agriculture for about ten years now (whod a thunk it)The kids (and their friends) think it is so neat that I don't just take them skating but skate with them. we don't skate as much as I would like but we have the Cape Cod Canal near bye for out door skating (weather permiting) and of course the rink. Colin (Courtman) lives in New Hampshire these days, I will pass the link to him. I wish Beth were still around to reminise with us; I still miss her.

Hey! Becky Here! WOW! To see these pix has brought back such wonderul, fond and cherrished times in my life! I had this link e-mailed to me from a friend, I've not even seen these pix before. Brought tears to my eyes to remember such a great time in my life. I've been a Personal Trainer for 5 years now, I'm still in the fitness industry since skating. I will never give up with skating! I still skate (on my same skates thank you very much) and even at a local skatepark here in Georgia (YES Georgia LOL) My 10 yr old is totally into skateparks, and also he is

Amazing to see this photographs. Steve and Becky were friends of mine in Venice growing up. Becky and I competed at the very first skate outdoor skate competition at the Marina Skate Park back in 1977 (The Pro-Am Roller Games). Steve and I used to work at Road Skates and skated at the pavillion there in Venice as well. I always wondered what happened to them both. They were such great people. Just some names of friends from that era in Venice; Mike Bright, Jerry Bregman, Benji Kahn, Kathy Williams, Beth Graham, Fred Blood, Duke Rennie and so many more. Thanks for posting these great memories.
