Gas Leak

Northeast Las Vegas Nevada

Years previously prior to planting a number of trees in my yard, my neighbors laughed at the blue, red and orange sprayed painted lines in the green grass denoting different utility’s lines. I had followed a often repeated local commercial call before you dig. In this set of three photos a neighbor did not heed the commercial’s warning and hit a gas line while planting another pine tree causing a fire and gas company response. From left to right, Southwest Gas employees prepare to start their work as a number of fire fighters wait on the fringe with hoses ready in case of a spark, a one employee holds a light the second laying down seals the hole in the pipe. Last some of the fire department equipment that responded. Remember “ Call Before You Dig “

A hefty fine seems appropriate--enough to cover the cost of all that labor.
