Soft northern light filters through the broken roof of a long-abandoned cabin at Silver City to reveal the hand-hewn log interior, lightly dusted by tiny particles of grey rock flour carried on the wind from nearby glacier-fed Slims River delta. The river was named after "Slim", a prospector's unlucky horse which was swallowed up by the river's mud.
