Gary R.

This canyon wren tried one of the oldest tricks in the (bird) book.
He spotted my long lens as I was doing some surfing photos, and landed about 10 feet away, looking photogenic,
and knowing that I couldn't possibly focus that close. I executed my discrete "wrist-twist-B300-off" move,
and before he knew what happened, he heard the click of the shutter and flitted off...too late.
I'm sure he'll be working on his techniques and won't make the same mistake again.

It is a Canon wren - only there to demonstrate the noise in the background :)

Is the exif info correct? - I dream of having that much light

Very nice. My bird pix are usually just blurs.

His speed must have been no match for your 1/1300s. I bet he's working on it, like you said.

So you're saying this is a Canon wren, instead of a canyon wren? 8^)

He may actually be part of a subtle advertising ploy for some camera company, encouraging you to buy that second camera which you secretly desire to carry, the one with the short lens.
