This morning I went outside to check a robin's nest and noticed that it had dropped into a lower branch.
The two parents were flying about and scolding me and the cats, looking for a baby to feed.
Here's a photo of mama.
When I noticed this baby in the grass several yards from the nest,
I was convinced that one of the cats had gorged on the rest of the little bird family and was saving this one for later.
My husband, after putting on rubber gloves, replaced the nest and the baby.
In a few minutes, the parents came back to the nest, but when they flew away,
the baby hopped from the nest onto a branch and clumsily tumbled through the branches to the ground and stumbled away.
The cats showed no interest; perhaps they are innocent. I hope it's ready to fly!
