White tailed Ptarmigan live above treeline, 11,500 feet in Colorado. It was 10 degrees F with 60+ mph winds when this shot was taken. Never want an UZI to be that cold again.

With 60+ mph winds, I'd say you went that extra mile for the 3's Gallery. Beautiful birds and a wonderful capture, Steve. That's not easy to do when you have that much snow and the birds are white too.

Their coats look just like fluffy snow. Is there actually any snow on them, or is that totally their coat? Beautiful birds! Great "Threes"!
