Vic Cooke

Long-Abandoned New York Central Railroad Passenger Station at Painesville, Ohio
(Countless times the fabled “Twentieth Century Limited” roared past this scene in the
night!)

Unwittingly, many of us seem to have taken pictures featuring unusual sun/moon lighting
this week! I hadn’t planned this as an ISO 400 shot, and the high-ISO noise really makes
it unprintable, but I love the “moonbeam” effect. I had been shooting in darkness for
about a half hour. As I was folding up the tripod the moon peeked out momentarily. I
hastily switched to niteshot mode (forgetting the camera would default to auto-ISO when
I turned it back on) and pulled off this quick shot. A few seconds later, the moon was
again gone!

Vic,
Well worth the cold and pleading your case to the cop. Great subject!

Great capture Vic. Would have lost the red by cloning or cropping though - personal preference.

Wonderful contrast between the sepia tones and blue grey background.

This is a very good shot. I like your willingness to post this inspite of the noise which might show up in printing.

Pablo--I did hear footsteps, LOL! See my POTW story in the Uzi-group.

Merlin--The only editing was cropping and some PS "curves" adjustments to bring up detail in the structural stonework that was a bit washed out by the eaves lighting.

Well done Vic!
It looks like some horror movie scenery... I feel like I'm gonna hear footsteps or barks or shootings... maybe was your wonderful shot! hehe
Congratulations!!
Pablo.

Oh yeah... I like it! Did you do anything with this photo? It looks almost like a drawing or something... the roof, the tracks... they look really 'different', sort of 3D-ish.
