this is a marvelous picture. i agree that the red frame really adds to it. have you printed it? did you try different colors for the cup and the button you dropped in there?

Have looked at many of your pictures & find I have no suggestions for improvement. Like this one -- absolutely superb! And the red frame is icing on the cake. Great work!

I voted for this one. It looks great. I also wonder how many times you had to try this
;-)

thanks dominique & rick: I used no special shutter release equipment. I took approx. 40 shots whereof 3 were of reasonable quality - but this was by far the best.
Dominique Schreckling13-Feb-2005 09:40
That's a great shot, taken exactly at the right time.

How many times did you try to get it like that ? Or did you use any special shutter release devices to capture the right moment ?

How many times did you have to try this before you got such a nice shot?

Great shot, I really like the colors, perception of motion with the conveyance of freezing time.

thanks nick! I used one 500W light in an approx. 45° angle above and in front of the bowl on a dark-grey table. no secondary light sources/no reflectors. I hold a coffee capsule (nespresso-type, for using in coffee machines) approx. 1 foot above the bowl and let it fall... hoping to release the shutter of my camera (EOS 300D) on the right time (via remote). Tech.: 1/4000 sec, 2.8f, 800iso.

This is brilliant :)
Congratulations!

I love this picture. Great lighting, great movement, great bowl... I keep meaning to play with splashing but have not got around to it yet. How did you set this up, lighting etc... What is that making the splash?
Guest 10-Feb-2005 17:46
I voted for this. It is unquestionably your best wall-hanging quality shot. Very very fine.

This is very cool! I like the composition and the border.
