It was here in the living room of his family's home that the famous Metis leader, Louis Riel, a founder of Manitoba, lay in state for two days in December 1885. Riel House belonged to Louis Riel's family. It has been restored to reflect the social, economic and cultural realities of life for the Lagimodière and Riel families in the 1890s.
