Squaw Creek NWR

I DECIDED TO POST THIS AS IT SHOWS THE WORK THAT
MUST BE DONE TO MAINTAIN NWR AREAS.. THE REFUGE IS
REVITALIZED ONE SMALL AREA AT A TIME BY BURNING OFF
THE DEAD DEBRIS FROM LAST YEAR'S GROWTH.. MAKING
ROOM FOR THE NEW GROWTH TO FLOURISH..

IT IS QUITE A SPECTACLE, BUT THE WILDLIFE DID
NOT SEEM BOTHERED BY IT AT ALL..

Hi Tom, well captured action shot, although as a Field Naturalist/Biologist I find this kind of action by gov't agencies disturbing. IMHO they should leave it be. For those of you who are interested read "Sand County Almanac" Aldo Leopold

Great image, Tom. The last one they had at Ouray NWR got out of control and caused some serious damage.

A very good example of what must be done! The first time I saw this happening,I thought they were crazy. I found out later that it is needed. V
