- 2nd Feb 2005 - Mine's a pint

Struggling to do the 'glass is half full' routine this morning. And the thought
of that made these 3 'items' catch my eye as I came back from the school run.

Think all the stress of recent activities has caught up!
Off to do my domestic contribution and clean bathroom, kitchen, loo etc as therapy!

Applied for few jobs though this week and set-up couple of interesting
networking meetings. One role is 20 hours/week - think of the PAD time!

Today's PAD is a photo of the mundane, but then I thought it might be of
interest as many countries don't deliver milk to the doorstep :)

Yep it's the British Pinta. And it's in glass bottles; 2 semi-skimmed, one skimmed :)

The sky's still grey so my sky shot for today is Philip's bonnet (hood to you US
followers...)

OK last minute mystery image..... any ideas? Ever felt like this?

Oh and the first Training Band conducting session went great on Monday :)

Nostalgic picture, reminds me of when we had milk delivered and the birds would make a hole in the top to get to the cream.

You still have milk delivered! What bliss. I used to love the glass bottles.

How neat, I did not know anyone received their milk this way anymore, sure brings back memories, we used to have to take the cream off the top and could make butter from it. Thanx for the memories.

When I was living in Sussex as a student, I remember the "gold cap" milk bottle I offered myself on sundays.
So creamy...

I can remember milk deliveries from when I was a kid . . . but I haven't seen this anywhere since before I graduated high school - and that was a LONG time ago. lol. How nice . .. and I assume you return the bottles too? We need to get back to that, everything is plastic and throw away. Interesting angle - as if you walked out on the porch and were bending down to pick them up ;)Cindy

Many a year since the milko stopped calling out here too. We buy ours in 3 litre plastic. Seeing these bottles takes me back in time. ( by the way Ian, you wouldn't get much out of that ' bull @ the gate ' shot I have today !!

Milko!
Theres not a milkman here, we have to go to the shop and buy it :-/

Nice image. I think part of the joy of photography is taking the mundane and rendering it art, or at least soming worthy of appreciation.:o)We do have milk delivery here, but not in the nifty glass bottles anymore.

great shot and a wee trip down amnesia lane - always had a problem with the tits pecking the top off of mine....

Grief - I've not seen this sight for oh too many years to count. These days mine all comes in plastic and I have to go and get it. It's a great photo of a national treasure. BTW don't get despondent about the job situation - it'll be fine.

This is superb... do you still have milk deliveries?

I love the sound the milk float makes as it drives by in the morning ... nothing else sounds like it. Great idea.
anthony legg02-Feb-2005 16:40
I thought milk delivery stopped years ago.
Ohh for the good ol' days.
Ian Clowes02-Feb-2005 13:26
Doesn't sound as though I should consider a milk round as a new career move then!
Guest 02-Feb-2005 13:22
Nice eye catching composition. Save a few of those bottles
they'll be collectors items in a years to come.

No such luxuries here, just plastic bottles or cartons from Tesco !
Gail Davison02-Feb-2005 12:52
We don't have milk delivered - Milky doesn't seem to have noticed that the worlds changed and delivers after we've gone to work. Love the shot.
Guest 02-Feb-2005 12:39
There are less and less people getting their milk delivered now, shame really. Although the birds do like to peck through the bottle tops!!

Could become historic - I think the supermarkets are winning. Nice perspective and colour.
