Very interesting shot. I love it how my attention is pulled away from the woman in the foreground (the initial subject?) and towards the couple in the background.

This works because it contrasts a sharp subject against a blurred subject. We focus on the expression of the person at right, even though she is smaller and further away from us. One moves, the other doesn't, and you charge the image with tension.
