The tourist pace slows on lower King Street, south of the Omni Hotel complex. The area is still dominated by antique shops and small businesses. This is what King Street was like 20 years ago, before the Omni Hotel construction and the massive growth of the College of Charleston ushered in the tourist boom in Charleston. Slowly though, the antique shops will dissapear as the boom extends to this area.
