2 - Deserted

Streets were quiet and children had just returned home from school
The Germans arrived around 2:00 in the afternoon on a warm, peaceful spring day.
They arrived by several trucks, dressed in brown camouflaged uniforms.
The townspeople did not seem concerned as this was a peaceful town; nothing had ever happened there before....

I cannot(thankfully)imagine the horror bestowed upon the people of this town on that day.
....and to see it still going on in places like Syria,Ruwanda,Darfur in the Sudan....it is heartbreaking.

The perspective is compelling, the sense of desolation over powering. Powerful and thought provoking, Steph. BV

That's quite a capture and commentary. Ironic that the weather in 2013 looked glorious.

I have a book of postcards my Grandfather bought in the Somme battlefields during WWI - the scenes are all contemporary showing the destruction.....

Works well in b&w, Stephanie. Nicely composed as well. V.

Very effective composition. Sadly it seems we don't learn from history. V

And then ... Satan arrived to commit his deeds ... forever written in history. They will remember the acts commited by the Germans Nazis forever. Yes, this series of images is best presented in B+W.

is this Oradour-sur-Glane? If so, horrific story, unimaginable what humans can do in the worst sense. Beautiful shot, by the way. V
