Images of the Umbrian university city of Perugia, spilling down its ridgetop. Perugia seemed to us at first a rather arrogant place, but its wealth of heritage and scenic beauty could not be denied. Although not shown here, some 21st century aspects of the city are quite remarkable: the 'Minimetro' monorail cars glide back and forth through tunnels under the ridge, to emerge either side of the city centre.
