Cockatoo Cockatiel

These are Australian parrots that live at our house. They are not pets; they are basically wild animals but we didn't realize that until we had satisfied our arrogant desire to bring something this beautiful into our home. They are raised by humans, imprinted on humans and there is no choice but to provide for them as best we can. They cannot survive on their own. They are instinctive animals and they live a very long time. Please think long and hard before bringing a large parrot or cockatoo into your lives! http://www.mytoos.com

Hi Charlie, I saw Sulfur-Crested Cockatoos in Killcare Australia where they are wild. In Sydney they roost at sunset in the Botanical Garden and make unbelievable rackets and do tricks to get
attention....They are great birds. your photo 2564 shows some of the beautiful color when they display. ~V~

I'd really like to join, the message board...I fully agree with your position. I don't believe anyone CAN "own" a parrot (of any species). I also don't believe people have any business breeding them for the "pet trade". Sometimes parrots permit us to be their friends, or share portions of their lives but even then very rarely will all of the bird's needs ever be met. Imagine being sentenced to life in prison as an infant before you even learn your own name! :-(

Its about time people realise that these beautiful creatures are not an amusement for man.I for one hate to see them caged.I have a neighbour who has 6 of them in cages no more than a large cardboard box, personally I would like to see them (the neighbours) stuck in space that little.Good on you for making people aware.
