Today I decided to really exercise my Canon 5D, my newest and highest-performing camera. It gets a wider field of view than my 30D workhorse, due to a larger sensor. This is great for wide view shots, but it makes a telephoto lens "appear" to be less telephoto -- it's simply that my 30D takes a "crop" of what the 5D takes (but with more pixels using the 30D).

Anyway, I pulled out my original wildlife lens, the Canon 300 mm f/2.8L IS, and put it with a 2x teleconverter to give my 5D 600mm, about what my 30D "sees" with a 400mm lens, and away I went. I started really daring, pushing the 5D up to ISO 3200, which will probably show more noise than desireable, but, hey, I am pushing this thing to its limits.

Birds ruled the day here, as usual, a lot of Herons and Egrets, but I did get a pleasant surprise by a flock of geese -- more on that later!
