I set up the Canon 5D with my new 85mm f/1.2 lens on a tripod and ran it through a series of 13 aperture settings -- f1.2-f16 to test sharpness (and show depth of field comparisons). All but one exposure (f/2.2) came out sharp! I re-tried f/2.2 and it came out fine, so I just deleted those images and I'm posting the other 12 originals, cropped to remove clutter and sized for the Web with a little RAW sharpening, along with 100% crops (full-size view) to see how the actual pixel-level sharpness came out with only a default edge sharpening in Lightroom applied to the RAW. The last pic is a crop from the f/16 shot showing detail in the eagle (still a bit far back for "best" focus).
The point of focus for all of these was in the upper center of the cut rock, which was about 4' from the camera. The eagle was about 3" from the rock and the vase was about 3" from the eagle.
