We had a cold spell here in the Pacific Northwest with freezing weather in the 'teens and, especially in the Columbia River Gorge, winds that brought the wind chill even lower. I was alert to the fact that the area's waterfalls would be icing up, so once that was confirmed I grabbed my gear and went out, starting with some high scenic views then three waterfalls ending up with the spectacular Multnomah Falls. It was cold, but on this afternoon the wind wasn't bad, although the late afternoon sun had sunk below the surrounding hills and cliffs.
