This was taken at the Pacific Islander Festival in San Diego in 2003. The organizers thought I was with the press and I got to get up close and meet the dancer and get back stage. It was pretty cool. I covered two of these events. When I put up my gallery I was getting comments from around the world from islanders who could not make it. It is a very large community here in San Diego and they are all great people.
