Ruhija sector of Bwindi, Uganda

Mukiza gorilla family group is found in Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is led by the dominant silverback Mukiza. The group was formed in May 2016 after splitting from the main Kyaguliro group.

When we where there this group was composed of 16 individuals, including; 1 Silverback (Mukiza), 7 adult females, 1 sub-adults, 2 juvenile and 5 infants. Mukiza group is known for staying deeper in the forest and very rarely gets close to the forest’s peripherals.
