Black Swan

Eiswoog, Germany

Black swans (Cygnus atratus) are considered rare in Germany, though they are not entirely absent.
While some populations have established themselves in parts of Europe, Germany has seen only occasional sightings.
I was very excited to hear that a pair has chosen a quiet lake in the area as their new home for a while.

It's the same in England, and they are not classified as a truly wild bird here yet. But I imagine in a few years time that may change.
