Fasching /Carnival

Otterberg, Germany

At the end of Winter, Germany celebrates the 'fifth season' called Fasching or Carnival.
It starts on November 11th and ends officially on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday,
which is the first day of Lent, the period of fasting.
