The town of Alzey lies in Rhenish Hesse. It has a well-kept old town with many half-timbered houses.
The earliest traces of settlement in the Alzey area go back as far as the Neolithic.
The town's midpoint is the Rossmarkt ("Horse Market") with the bronze horse by artist Gernot Rumpf.
I used one of the few sunny days in February to take a closer look at this town so near by where I live but never visited.
