The town of Alzey lies in Rhenish Hesse. It has a well-kept old town with many half-timbered houses, restaurants, cafés and shops, surrounded by ruins of the mediaeval town wall.
The earliest traces of settlement in the Alzey area go back as far as the Neolithic.
