Polygonia c-album/C-Falter

The Comma is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Nymphalidae.
Its irregular wing edges are characteristic of the Polygonia genus,
which is why they are commonly called anglewings. Wikipedia

interested to see these appeared near you at about the same time as we had some freak early sightings; you have a far better portrait than I managed to achieve, in fact an excellent one by any standard. Your goat willow is certainly way ahead of ours which is only just showing now
