Schönburg Castle and Oberwesel | Bacharach, Germany

Bacharach, Germany

One of the prettiest of the Rhine villages, Bacharach, was first documented
in 871. For centuries the town has been famous for growing and trading wine. Back in the middle
ages, it was known as a main storage station for wines from the
Middle Rhine, Nahe and Rheingau. Bacharach's name points out the town's celtic
roots. The town's original name "Baccaracus" means roughly the "Celtic manor
of Baccarus"
