Hi Everyone. I am Michael Drvito and served in the 16th MP Group Head Quarters as the RAnd R clerk from November of 1968 to July of 1969. I lived on Csmp John F. McDermott with the 218 th MPs. If you were there at that time your RR went through me! I have lots of black and white pictures of Nah Trang as well. Thank you for allowing me to post this.

I was a cwo-2 huey c model gunship fire team leader 17thASHC at plantation airstrip Long bien. My fire team was on strip alert and called out 0: 100 to find incoming rockets to long bien. We
destroyed them at 0:400 we were told to fly over the ammo dump with our landing lights on to draw fire from sappers. The MPs killed them. At day light we were told to get airborne VC were between our airstrip and the ammo dump fence. About 0:700 My fire team was called to the American embassy I fired rockets inyo the ally between the BOQ and embassy. 7 MPS came out of the ally alive. I got a DFC a year latter at FT Wolters

Anyone recollect my dad, Robert Gosselin who was a supply SGT in Vietnam with the 2nd battalion, 11th artillery from Oct 67 - Mar 68, then section chief with company B, 54th Signal battalion from Mar - Sep 68. Any information about where these companies were stationed in Vietnam during that time frame would be appreciated.

Looking for any information whatsoever about my grandfather, Sgt Leonard Lee Moore. 716th MP BN B company, 89th MP Grp, 18th MP BDE. I never got to meet him and have always thought about him, basically almost desperate to know about him. He was killed 8/8/68 in Gia Dinh. I've heard a grenade was thrown into his jeep but want to know what was happening, what he was doing, if he was alone , anything. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your sacrifices. I am a writing this in hopes to connect with anybody form HHQ 54th Sig. Bn. 1FFV. I was there from 23 Feb 67 to 12 Feb 68. MOS was 72C20. I was CQ runner in Camp McDerrmitt during the morning of the TET attack around 0300 when the sky lit up like it was daylight. Red alert, the sound of fire exchange in the distance proved VC were trying to break the perimeter. Everyone was battle ready within a couple of minutes and in place. The VC never got in. The 716th MP Battalion Viet Nam meets every other year and has a web site. 716mpvietnam.org They have a good list of our guys who served any time with the 716th. I was there from December 1967 to December 1968. We have identified the 12 of us who went to the Phu To race track during TET. This is a great time of telling stories and fellowship.

The next reunion is August 25 to 27, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska. Ramada Plaza Hotel.

I was sitting in my hootch in the 5th SF Hqs sipping on a terrible bottle of scotch with the CO of the Signal Security Company when we started taking fire. At first I thought it was firecrackers, but when the mortars started it was obvious not fun and games. If any one can tell me the name of the CO of that company I would love to make contact with him. I can't remember if it was his scotch or mine and I owe him a good bottle of scotch.

I was with you in Co A 519 from Oct 67 to MAR 68. I talked to Joe Lacowiec CMIC of New Jersey. I asked him if he could remember our Co A XO under Major John Devine CO. He said he remembered a tall light skinned black man. He couldnt remember his name. The man's name was Colin Powell with a wife named Alma. More to the story if you care to call me 541 9444591. Hello: I was an Interrogator-Linguist with Co A, 519th MI Bn, on Plantation Road. Our pow compound at Combined Military Interrogation Center was just down the street from the Phu To Racetrack. I interrogated one of the three survivors of the attack on US embassy-Ngo Van Giang, aka Ba Den. He was the commander of the forces called Biet Dong-(rangers/commandos). I went back to VN in 2012 trying to find out what happened to him. Turns out he survived the war and prison only to die in a traffic accident near the Y bridge. By a complicated chain of chance and luck I was able to talk to some of his Biet Dong brothers in arms and ended up with 14 hours of audio interviewing eight former Biet Dong, including three women and two senior commanders. Almost all of the Soldiers wanted to know where their dead comrades were buried, and I was asked to see what I could find out. I know the 716th MPs were involved in the firefight at the embassy and there are pictures of MPs with dead and wounded enemy. Would any of the posters on this site have any information as to where the dead VC/BietDong were buried? As you may know, Vietnamese are very respectful of their dead and like us, want to know where their MIA are buried.

I need TET Offensive images for a 90 minute documentary about homelessness in Lowell, MA. One of the homeless participants who was in Lowell's shelter at the time of filming was a Marine during the time period. I meant to add my brother's previous unit: Co B, 5th Battalion (Airmobile) 7th Cavalry, 1st Air Cavalry Division before this transfer. Comments I posted from his last letter, were written the day BEFORE he was killed Jan 31, 1968. God Bless all that have served.

This is my first time reviewing this website. My brother Sgt Archie Burnette Jr, was transferred to a new unit, Co B, 1/50 Inf (Mech), 1st Cav Div (A.M.), he writes about 115 miles outside On (An?) Khe, Jan 1968. He was 22 days from R & R in Hawaii with his wife, and would have turned 21 on Feb 21, 1968. I just found the last letter he wrote to our Mother on Jan 30, 1968, the day he was killed. He writes "the civilians are celebrating their 4th of July type thing. It's called Tet. Everytime a damn firecracker goes off, I almost hit the ground. I'll be glad when it's over." He wrote to all of us that day. We didn't receive the letters until after he was killed. He had been selected for the Old Guard, Arlington, Virginia after basic training. I was a sophomore in high school when he left for VietNam. It's been a long healing process and it was a while before I realized he was in infantry/officer training. I always thought he would be safe. He left a wife and 3 month old son, who is now grown with 2 daughters. I did find an veteran advocate, received transcripts of Archie's service records. The story, we had been told was information given his former brother-in-law, Tom Hranac, member of Green Berets at the time, that there was sniper-fire, Archie yelling for everyone to drop, yelling "ambush", he being hit with mortar fire about the shoulder area. I need more time to do research for his granddaughters. I have tried to avoid the details for many years. This should never be forgotten. Thank you and others for the coverage. Sharon Burnette Fox

This is for any one who was in the 54th Feb67 - Feb68 I was in electronic maintenance 31e20 field radio repairman. I knew a lot of the combat photographers. I knew Marcello ''Marc '' J Lofaro very well. I visited Marc at The Wall in 2002 left him Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, album by the Beatles. Along with the story I knew of Marc and wanted to share with people who didn't know him. We lost our white Berry Gordy. Marc was a gifted musician. I joined Co C., 716th MP Bn right after Tet. Fresh meat repllacement for the alert team causalties. I think the photo of the MP with the bloody bandage, the photo of the guy kneeling ovrer the corpse, and the shot-up building were all taken in the alley next to BOQ #3 where the Co. C alert team was ambushed. I spent several nights at BOQ #3 and am pretty sure that those photos were taken in that alley

that Don and I served in the same unit (54th Signal Battalion 67-68). I also knew
Mark Lofaro and actually shared the same Hooch with him. I remember that

I shot three of these photos on the morning of Jan. 31, 1968 when I was a young enlisted Army photographer: top row, second from left (MPs with captured VC sapper), third from left (EOD team removing unexploded ordnance from dead VC sapper) .

Bottom row, second from left (MPs from the 716th MP Battalion lean against the embassy's wall after the shooting had stopped).

Nice work. Oh the irony. TET was such a huge loss for the North (personal wise,) they wouldn't be able to launch an offensive of any significance for over two years. Had to wait for the younger kids to get old enough to fight.
