I saw a lot of this behavior in my recent visit to an equine center. You can see the curiousity in the horse's posture...many of the animals enjoy company and seek it out. I guess it gets boring to be a herd animal alone in a field. I found them less interested in striking poses or browsing for grass under the snow than in coming over for a visit. I ended up with a lot of photos of nearby horses that turned into nose shots. What a hoot.
This is a particularly pleasing composition with the foreground fence winding into the center of the frame. The tree helps transition the eye smoothly over to the shot's true subject. Very nicely done.
