I'n so sorry to hear about your lost friend, never mind the intervening years. I don't think you ever get completely over it empty spot they leave. I'm coming up on a year since losing my little golden retriever, and I miss her as much today as I did back then. So it's reassuring somehow to see an image where your old friend looks as vital and happy as he did throughout his beloved time spent with you. That's the right way to use memory.
