Final resting place of Jack Hill … a three-war veteran, a great mentor for a young officer like myself, a gentleman of the first degree, a superb father, husband and friend.
I had the distinct and lingering privilege of working for Jack on two different tours (one in the DC area and one in Vietnam). He was what I could only aspire to.
My memories of him are legend … he never seemed to perspire, his uniforms never lost their crease, his boots didn’t collect any dust and his hair was never messed up (he used to drive me nuts he was so neat). He led with a quiet dignity.
After three wars, he proceeded to gain his PhD and taught for many years in Virginia before his passing.
I don’t need Memorial Day to remember him but on this very special day, I can’t help but remember that he was one of the very best !!!
