A Tank with a History

This tank (an M48 Patton) has been around. It saw action in the late 1960's in Vietnam and was returned to the US in 1971 to be rebuilt ... after which it was returned to South Vietnam. In 1973, this tank was given to the RVN (the South Vietnamese Army).

In August of 1975, the vehicle was captured by North Vietnamese forces upon the collapse of the South Vietnamese Army.

In 1996 this tank was purchased by a private owner from the Vietnamese government and returned to the US for inclusion in this exhibit.

It is painted in the colors of Company B, 1st Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment; 4th Infantry Division (it's original unit in the mid-1960's)
