This is an F/A-18 F from VFA-2 that performed a few flybys and a touch and go at the Inyokern Airshow for 2003. I have several shots something like this that I am calling "Speed of Heat". There are a couple different reasons for this title. In the high performance aircraft world the term "at the speed of heat" means very fast. Also, in British aviation terms an aircraft in afterburner is said to be in "reheat".

Just as a counterpoint, at the other end of the speed range is "the speed of smell".
