Sidewinder

This is a young Sidewinder in the Mohave Desert of California. This particular Sidewinder was very young and about 8 inches long, but pretty darned fat, maybe 3/4 inch. I guess it has been a good year for eating small critters. The snake was young enough that it had no rattle. You could see it shaking its tail, but no sound was heard.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Not sure why the EXIF changed to say this was a 15mm shot, it was actually the 28-135 IS at 28mm. I have changed the EXIF to be correct after receiving a few comments about the 15mm and being pretty close ;-)

Quite daring at 15mm :-)
