Great website and great photos. You're website has helped me immensely in identifying both the Desmognathus Fuscus and the larvae stage of the Eurycea Bislineata. Have you considered making a page dedicated to side by side comparison of larvae stage of salamanders.

I live in Northeastern Wisconsin. I have a good population of Blue-spotted Salamanders. They reproduce in the Vernal pools and temporary ponds on my property; however, a few years without normal rainfall are threatening and destroying the salamander populations and habitat. What can I do to ensure these amazing amphibians continue to endure?

i recently just caught a spotted salamander up at a campground in minnesota...its a baby obviously and has like 3 yellow spots on its tale area , so is it a spotted salalmander? or what is it? can you it as a pet, if i was to, would it be okay?

We just found what I think is a spotted salamander, but instead of yellow spots they are green. Possible? Definately not a blue-spotted salamander.

There aren't any tiger salamanders because I've never seen one. They aren't around where I live. I'd have to go a few hundred miles to try to find one.

Your photo are very clear and sharp but the Eastern Newts fighting are actualy a male during is mating process. The male positions himself above and forward of the female, gripping her sides just behind her forelegs with his hindlimbs and rubbing her snout with the side of his head. Males will deposit a sperm packet on the bottom of the pond and the female will proceed to pick it up with her cloaca, later using the sperm to fertilize her eggs. Very good picture !
