hi! Tom having watched a tv program this morning and saw the alb all alarm bells rang .However thank god i was wrong but having searched the net I came up with your site but the beetle and grubs I have in a closed jam jar do not look like the one in your photos .I have no camra at hand right now But it is similar to your beetle the spilotus quadripustulatus with out the glazed look and the head draws away a lot narrower. This beetle is abe to fly and the grub is white with an orange to red head and is about an inch and a half long. I found the grub and beetle from a felled scotch pine and douglas fir. These trees have been felled for four years and I noticed the bore holes three years ago and they are about ten mil in diamiter. Will send a photo later when I get my camera. I live in Monaghan Ireland.
