The crater of Mount St. Helens is about 5 miles away from Windy Ridge where this photo was taken. There has been noticeable activity on the mountain lately, including numerous earthquakes, lava dome building activity, and frequent small steam releases. There is a little bit of steam visible in the photo, probably originating on or around the lava dome in the crater (not visible).
