Jesus S. Barron 13-Oct-2009 18:01
I lived in Budingen from April 1995-December 1997 as part of the 1st Squadron 1st Calvary Regiment. My name is Jesus Barron and I was part of HHT 1-1 Cav. I am looking for my best friend James Townsend and he was also stationed in Budingen. He was part of the RAT team. If anyone has any information about him please e-mail me at trpten525@aol.com thank you.

Hi,

Big compliments for your Büdingen-photos!. They are the best I ever saw abt that cute little “Dornroeschen-town”. And I know, what I say, because I lived there in the early 50ties as a schoolkid. And guess where? My room was exactly the left window in the Mühltor-building upper floor. I used to spit down unto the fishes playing in the water of the Seemenbach. And one of my best friends lived in that building “Witwensitz” in the Oberhof. The floor just below the top. The church I had to visit every Sunday, because I lived in a reverands household at this time. There are some more nice views by example from the Malerwinkel (painters corner) at the Lohsteg bridge to the Mühltor and along the Lohsteg itself with the long fortress wall mit towers. And more and more.

Also on the Ronneburg I was from time to time. Büdingen was the best playground for young boys ever. Despite I’m living far away in another historic city – Luebeck – in north Germany I’m visiting Büdingen nowadays too from time to time. Hope you’ve had a nice time as a soldier in Büdingen and probably Gelnhausen and former Elvis Presleys baracks around Friedberg and Bad Nauheim. When I was living in Schlüchtern – some 40 kilometers from Büdingen, I heard rumors that the Bad Nauheim Dekan (kind of top reverend), who was closely related to my guest family in Büdingen, had surprised Elvis in person, when he crawled in evening time thru the reverends red-currant bushes, for reasons to avoid the big crowd of fans summond all evenings in front of the house. Elvis Villa was just next to the reverends house. That is a story, surely nobody knows worldwide about “Elvis the Pelvis”.

Kind regards,

J.C.
