Long Tailed Duck, formerly known as Oldsquaw.
This shot was hand-held in shadow at dusk, at 300 mm! I cropped and lightened the image with Photoshop Elements. There is a little "noise" in the water, but I have to say, I am pretty happy with this lens.

Nice clean portrait. I think you could improve some of these shots by shooting from a lower point of view to emphasize the birds' shape more. This one is particulalry interesting to me; The wake adds interest. Too bad about the noise - it is otherwise a great capture, and a species I haven't seen too often.
