Hi Bolton,
That's a good question. The photo was taken at NAS Jacksonville, which is right across the St Johns River from downtown. Because this shot is taken at high zoom (400mm) it does give a compressed appearance. The jets entered the frame over the river from the left and banked to their right to approach the field, but in the photo they appear to almost be flying over the buildings, when actually they are not. They are a lot closer to the airfield than they are to the downtown buildings. The photo is completely un-retouched, and the only thing I did was increase the contrast of the buildings to remove some of the haze that appears in the original shot. Thanks for your question.

Tim, help me out here. That looks like avaition equipment and runway in the foreground but there is nothing that I'm aware of that close to the downtown.????

Wow! I have seen these in formation in a lot of pictures. This is the first one I have seen flying over a city skyline!!!!!Great capture.
