Freeland, Whidbey Island, Washington

Fire in the Sky!

I finally did it! I bought myself a Canon 5DS R! 50.6 megapixels and the details, color, texture, grain... everything is simply amazing. That plus the new 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM III lens I bought earlier this year as well as the new 1.4 III tele-extender.

This is the first photo I am posting from my first outing today with this wonderful camera, and the elements simply couldn't have possibly exceeded my hopes more than this today. I shot this from my beach, just below my home on Whidbey Island, overlooking Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains in the distance. The sky lit up and I kept grabbing one composition after another until the light finally faded away. What a glorious way to break in a new camera.

That sounds like many Christmas come early together.
A great bit of kit and good that it is in the hands of somebody well able to get the most out of it.
