Blue Wren on Frangipani

This is a mature Superb Fairy Wren.
These are Australian's favourite bird
I have been trying to get a good shot of one of these for years.
His family lives in our plumbago but usually flit away as soon as I go into the garden.
I had been trying for a couple of hours before getting this shot.
Thanks to Glenn who called me out.
I had to be patient but I am happy with this photograph.
Enjoy!

Thanks Jim, I have been on a mission to get a good shot like this for years.
He is very colourful indeed. They family stays together and the other younger males assist with chick rearing.
DNA testing has proven that the young ones even get to father some chicks.
The wrens teach their eggs a song and when they hatch, they get chucked out of the nest if they can't sing the correct song. This is because the chicks who can't sing the song are usually cuckoos that come down from New Guinea!

Thanks Michael and Peter,
They can be difficult to catch because they do not sit still for very long.

A common species with a spectacular color scheme. Most of these guys are pretty bland colored over here. Love the pose.

Thanks, Terry. I love these little fellows even though they poop on my car as they admire themselves in the side mirrors. They have been endangered but seem to be making a come back. If you would like more info take a look at Thr Birds In Backyards website.
